Cape gooseberry has attractive, heart-shaped leaves and delicate nodding yellow flowers. After pollination, a distinctive papery husk forms and gradually inflates around the developing fruit. Inside, ripe berries develop a bright golden color and a delicious tropical tang. Harvest when the husks turn tan and papery and the berries are deep gold and wonderfully aromatic.
